PRP Therapy

What is PRP?

PRP stands for Platelet rich plasma. It is has been used by Physicians for several years to stimulate the growth and healing for tissues and bone. It is a regenerative medicine modality approved by the FDA which utilizes the patient’s own blood to treat the painful condition. PRP is a simple office procedure that is less invasive and a much less costly alternative to surgery.

How Does It Work?

Blood is made up of red and white blood cells, plasma and platelets. Platelets are full of endogenous growth factors that initiate the healing process. It is through harnessing the body’s own power to heal that PRP signals healing at sites of chronic pain and injury.

What is the process?

PRP therapy is an outpatient procedure that involves a routine 30 minute visit at your doctor’s office. The patient’s blood will be drawn and processed in a centrifuge to concentrate and isolate the platelets. Once the PRP has been extracted, you doctor will inject it at the site of concern, with or without the use of an ultrasound. Your doctor will anesthetize the area of concern prior to administration of the PRP with a local anesthetic injection to help minimize discomfort during the process.

What can I expect after the PRP therapy?

Immediately after the injection, the area of concern may be puffy or swollen and you may experience some pain or discomfort from the injection. This will subside as time goes on and the treatment begins to take effect. PRP will begin to initiate the healing process as soon as it is injection. But most people will not notice the benefit for 1-2 weeks. The benefits of PRP therapy should continue to improve but your doctor may recommend more than one injection based on your particular case and the associated protocol.

Why should I consider PRP therapy?

PRP is derived from your own blood, virtually eliminating the risk of allergic reaction or other sensitivity as with other modalities. PRP can serve as a great alternative to those who cannot or do not wish to have surgery. PRP is a simple, in office injection with minimal down time afterward, as with surgery. PRP is also very cost effective when the alternative is surgery.

Amniotic Injections

what are amniotic injections?

Amniotic Injections are comprised of components of human amniotic membrane and fluid from the placental tissue of a consenting mother after a full term birth.

How does it work?

Amniotic tissues are rich in nutrients, growth factors, proteins and regenerative cells. These of all been shown to be beneficial in regenerative tissue repair and to support healing in humans.

why should i consider amniotic injection?

Amniotic injections are safe, drug-free, quick in office procedures that can be a great alternative to surgery. There is minimal to no downtime after the procedure.

Fat Pad Restoration

what is fat pad restoration?

Fat pad restoration is a process through which the cushion of fat on the pressure points of your feet is restored using graft material. As we age, the fat that serves to cushion the bottoms of the feet diminishes, which is referred to as fat pad atrophy. As it diminishes, it cause pain and difficulty walking. Fat pad restoration relieves the pain and improves function.

how does it work?

Fat pad restoration is achieved using Leneva, a human adipose tissue allograft designed to support your own body’s tissue regeneration process. Leneva provides the structure for your own fat cells to repopulate. After the initial treatment, your body’s natural response will take over and the process of new fat cells repopulating the area can be ongoing up to 6-8 weeks after the initial injection.

What is the process?

Leneva is an outpatient injection, administered in the office, during your regular visit. Your doctor will anesthetize the area of concern prior to administration of the Leneva with a local anesthetic injection to help minimize discomfort during the process. There is no down time after the procedure and you can return to normal activities the same day.

why should i consider fat pad restoration?

Fat pad restoration has several applications in the foot and ankle. It can be utilized for diabetic patients at high risk for ulcerations, athletes suffering from pain during activity, executives and patients who wear high heeled shoes as well as mature patients with pain and difficulty walking. The procedure is a simple, in office injection with no down time afterward. Compared to other fat restoration options such as fillers, Leneva provides an avenue for you own body to populate the area being restored. This minimizes the risk for displacement or wear over time and decreases the need for multiple treatments.
